Tamil cinema strike called off after 48 days Wednesday April 18,2018

fter 48 days, the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council (TFPC) has called off their strike.

A detailed announcement regarding the film releases will be out today.

Vishal, the president of TFPC has said that the following decisions have been made after a day-long discussion with the Tamil Nadu government, representatives of theatre owners and Digital Service Providers (DSPs):

- Tickets will be computerised from June 1. A government order will be passed soon.

- Flexible ticket pricing will be introduced and the tickets will be priced based on the budget of a film.

- TFPC will start an online ticketing portal where the booking charges will be as low as Rs 4.
- TFPC will also set up a mastering unit where the film mastering will take place.

- QUBE has slashed the e-Cinema Virtual Print Fee (VPF) from Rs 9,000 to Rs 5,000. Further, the full run in theatres, the rates have come down from Rs 22,000 to Rs 10,000.

On Tuesday (April 17, 2018), Minister Kadambur Raju had convened a meeting with the members of the film fraternity, members of theatre association and Digital Service Providers (DSPs). The meeting went on from 11.30am to 8pm.

Mercury, a film starring Prabhudheva will be releasing first. The release of other films is yet to be decided.
